Invitation to Belovedness

My early twenties were a time of great instability for me, but in that time of insecurity and disruption God began to draw me near to him. God began to tenderly invite me to draw near. First He gave me a scripture that revealed how he viewed me and actually gave me a new name. It was Isaiah 62:3-4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called My Delight is in Her, and your land Married for the Lord delights in you. (Married would have the conntation of one who is favored and blessed of God).

So I began to internalize this idea that the Lord delights in me, that His actual name for me is "My Delight is in Her." Another step in the journey was the day I saw the above piece of artwork on Royal Street in New Orleans. It was a primitive mixed media piece made out of wood, collage, paint, and what looked like sharpie pen ink. I had a visceral reaction to it when I saw it. I was stunned. The words, One day when I let God out of the box I built, He danced with me, shot through me. I felt it as another invitation to draw deeper still to God. The thought that God so delights in me that He invites me to dance began to open up my imagination of His great love. Also, I wondered how had I put God in a box. How had I put myself in a box? I wanted to let God out of any box that I created for him or for myself, and dance! In this website, I am extending that invitation to you. I want you to know that God calls you His beloved, "My Delight is in You." My prayer is that this be a space where we consider the invitation, where we begin to see how we have forgotten God's great love for us, and where we begin to put on our dancing shoes. Jesus is our guide, our model, our teacher, and our way to that belovedness, to that dance. I invite you to join me.
